Hi, I'm Dominique Lesperance and I'm so happy you're here. I'm excited to be your guide to helping you move better than you ever thought possible!
I didn't start out in life as an athlete, dancer or gymnast. In fact, I almost failed PE in third grade. Growing up in Key West, FL, I absolutely hated having balls thrown at me and running outside on the track in the extreme heat.
I didn't discover my love of fitness and movement until I left high school. I started out on a whim taking an aerobics certification in 1991 and from there ended up teaching and becoming a personal trainer. I quickly realized not only did I enjoy exercising but I LOVED helping other people learn to move better.
I took my first Pilates class when I moved to California in 1996. The teacher was in her mid-to-late 70"s and she was so incredibly graceful and fluid in her movements. She made everything look so effortless. I remember struggling just to sit up straight and thinking "Wow, I want to move like that when I'm her age!" So, I signed up for my first Pilates teacher training and never looked back.
Since then, I've owned my own studio, taught thousands of clients and students, and have been fortunate enough to travel the world, from Europe to Asia and throughout the U.S., mentoring and teaching others to teach Pilates. My fitness career over the last 30 years has led me to train and study many different complementary modalities and my approach to teaching is a mix of the modalities that encompass the principals I’ve found to have the most positive impact on my clients and my own body, with Pilates always at the core.
I hold numerous certifications and have studied in-depth in: Pilates, yoga, Gyrotonic, gymnastic strength training, aerial acrobatics, active mobility/contortion, dance conditioning, as well as advanced specialized training in injuries and pathologies.
I’m more passionate today as I've ever been inspiring, motivating and guiding my students to their ultimate movement potential.
I can honestly say that I am in better shape today at 49 than I was in my 20's. I attribute it all to that first Pilates teacher who showed me the potential of aging backwards and it's my mission in life to share what I've learned with women like you!
